Nomenclatural History
The species Marinomonas communis was originally described by van Landschoot and De Ley 1983. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 13 in 1984. van Landschoot and De Ley formed this name in 1983 by placing the species Baumann et al. 1972 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus van Landschoot and De Ley 1984 emend. Espinosa et al. 2010. Chimetto et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Chang et al. 2008 emend. Chimetto et al. 2011 in 2011.
