Nomenclatural History
The genus Alcanivorax was originally proposed and validly published by Yakimov et al. 1998. Fernández-Martínez et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2003. Fernández-Martínez et al. transferred the members of Bruns and Berthe-Corti 1999 into this genus in 2003.
