The species Halomonas aquamarina was originally described and validly published by Dobson and Franzmann 1996. Dobson and Franzmann formed this name in 1996 by placing the species
Deleya aquamarina (ZoBell and Upham 1944) Akagawa and Yamasato 1989
into the genus Halomonas Vreeland et al. 1980 emend. Dobson and Franzmann 1996.
