The species Halomonas halodenitrificans was originally described and validly published by Dobson and Franzmann 1996. Dobson and Franzmann formed this name in 1996 by placing the species (Robinson and Gibbons 1952) Davis et al. 1969 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Vreeland et al. 1980 emend. Dobson and Franzmann 1996.
