The species Deleya marina was originally described and validly published by Baumann et al. 1983. Baumann et al. formed this name in 1983 by placing the species
Pseudomonas marina (Cobet et al. 1970) Baumann et al. 1972 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Halomonas Vreeland et al. 1980 emend. Dobson and Franzmann 1996. In 1996, Dobson and Franzmann established Deleya marina as the basonym of
Halomonas marina (Cobet et al. 1970) Dobson and Franzmann 1996
