Nomenclatural History	The species Methanolobus oregonensis was originally described by Boone 2001. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 85 in 2002. Boone formed this name in 2001 by placing the species Methanohalophilus oregonensis corrig. Liu et al. 1990 into the genus Methanolobus König and Stetter 1983.
