Nomenclatural History
|
The species Methanolobus siciliae was originally described by Stetter and König 1989. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 31 in 1989. Ni and Boone published an emended description of this species in 1991. In 1994, Ni et al. established Methanolobus siciliae as the basonym of
Methanosarcina siciliae (Stetter and König 1989) Ni et al. 1994 emend. Elberson and Sowers 1997
