The species Pseudomonas hibiscicola was originally described by Moniz 1963. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. van den Mooter and Swings established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Xanthomonas maltophilia (Hugh 1981) Swings et al. 1983
in 1990. van den Mooter and Swings established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Pseudomonas beteli corrig. (Ragunathan 1928) Savulescu 1947 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 1990.
