The species Pseudomonas meliae was originally described by Ogimi 1977. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 7 in 1981. Gardan et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Pseudomonas ficuserectae Goto 1983
in 1999. Gardan et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Pseudomonas savastanoi (Janse 1982) Gardan et al. 1992
in 1999. Gardan et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Pseudomonas amygdali Psallidas and Panagopoulos 1975 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 1999.
