Nomenclatural History
The class Halobacteria was originally proposed by Grant et al. 2001. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 85 in 2002. Gupta et al. published an emended description of this class in 2015. This name replaces the name Cavalier-Smith 2002 .
