The subspecies Pseudomonas syringae syringae was originally described and validly published by Janse 1982. In 1982, Janse reduced van Hall 1902 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of subspecies.

The valid publication of this subspecies occurred via Rule 46 upon valid publication of the first subspecies in the parent species.
