The species Pseudomonas woodsii was originally described by Stevens 1925. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Coenye et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Burkholderia andropogonis (Smith 1911) Gillis et al. 1995
in 2001.
