Nomenclatural History
The family Halobacteriaceae was originally proposed by Gibbons 1974. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Cui et al. published an emended description of this family in 2012. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Gupta et al. in 2015 and Gupta et al. in 2016.
