Nomenclatural History
The species Moraxella ovis was originally described by Henriksen and Bøvre 1968. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Henriksen and Bøvre formed this name in 1968 by placing the species Lindqvist 1960 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Lwoff 1939 emend. Lautrop 1974 (Approved Lists 1980). In 1979, Bøvre established as the basonym of (Lindqvist 1960) Bøvre 1979 .
