The species Halobacterium pharaonis was originally described by Soliman and Trüper 1982. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 10 in 1983. In 1984, Tindall et al. established as the basonym of (Soliman and Trüper 1983) Tindall et al. 1984 .
