Nomenclatural History

The family Incertae sedis 6 was originally proposed by Garrity et al. 2007. Kawamura et al. replaced this illegitimate name with
Rhodospirillaceae Pfennig and Trüper 1971 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Hördt et al. 2020
in 2012.
"Incertae sedis" ("of uncertain placement") are placeholders and should not be considered to be formal names.
