Nomenclatural History	The species Halobacterium saccharovorum was originally described by Tomlinson and Hochstein 1976. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1995, Kamekura and Dyall-Smith established Halobacterium saccharovorum as the basonym of Halorubrobacterium saccharovorum (Tomlinson and Hochstein 1977) Kamekura and Dyall-Smith 1996 pro synon. Halorubrum saccharovorum (Tomlinson and Hochstein 1977) McGenity and Grant 1996 . In 1995, McGenity and Grant established Halobacterium saccharovorum as the basonym of Halorubrum saccharovorum (Tomlinson and Hochstein 1977) McGenity and Grant 1996 .
