Nomenclatural History
The species Alteromonas tetraodonis was originally described and validly published by Simidu et al. 1990. Akagawa-Matsushita et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (ZoBell and Upham 1944) Reichelt and Baumann 1973 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1993. In 1995, Gauthier et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Simidu et al. 1990) Gauthier et al. 1995 .
