The species Marinobacterium stanieri was originally described and validly published by Satomi et al. 2002. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. Satomi et al. formed this name in 2002 by placing the species Baumann et al. 1983 into the genus González et al. 1997.
