The species Pseudoalteromonas aurantia was originally described and validly published by Gauthier et al. 1995. Gauthier et al. formed this name in 1995 by placing the species
Alteromonas aurantia Gauthier and Breittmayer 1979 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Pseudoalteromonas Gauthier et al. 1995 emend. Beurmann et al. 2017.
