The species Pseudoalteromonas carrageenovora was originally described and validly published by Gauthier et al. 1995. Gauthier et al. formed this name in 1995 by placing the species
Alteromonas carrageenovora Akagawa-Matsushita et al. 1992
into the genus Pseudoalteromonas Gauthier et al. 1995 emend. Beurmann et al. 2017.
