The species Pseudoalteromonas rubra was originally described and validly published by Gauthier et al. 1995. Gauthier et al. formed this name in 1995 by placing the species Gauthier 1976 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Gauthier et al. 1995 emend. Beurmann et al. 2017.
