Nomenclatural History

The species Vibrio carchariae was originally described by Grimes et al. 1984. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 17 in 1985. Pedersen et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Vibrio harveyi (Johnson and Shunk 1936) Baumann et al. 1981
in 1998.
