Nomenclatural History
The species Vibrio costicola was originally described by Smith 1938. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Garcia et al. published an emended description of this species in 1987. In 1996, Mellado et al. established as the basonym of (Smith 1938) Mellado et al. 1996 emend. Huang et al. 2000 .
