The species Vibrio iliopiscarius was originally described by Onarheim et al. 1994. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 53 in 1995. In 1999, Urakawa et al. established as the basonym of (Onarheim et al. 1995) Urakawa et al. 1999 .
