Nomenclatural History

The species Vibrio proteolyticus was originally described by Baumann et al. 1980. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 8 in 1982. Baumann et al. elevated the subspecies
Aeromonas hydrophila proteolytica (Merkel et al. 1964) Schubert 1969 (Approved Lists 1980)
to the rank of species to form this name in 1980.
