Nomenclatural History
|
The species Vibrio splendidus was originally described by Baumann et al. 1980. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 6 in 1981. Baumann et al. formed this name in 1980 by placing the species
Beneckea splendida (Beijerinck 1900) Reichelt et al. 1976 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Vibrio Pacini 1854 emend. Shewan and Veron 1974 (Approved Lists 1980). Lucena et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Vibrio hemicentroti Kim et al. 2013
in 2017.
