Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Photobacterium damselae damselae was originally described and validly published by Smith et al. 1991. Trüper and De' Clari corrected this name from (sic) to . Kimura et al. published an emended description of this subspecies in 2000. In 1995, Gauthier et al. reduced corrig. (Love et al. 1982) Smith et al. 1991 to the rank of subspecies. Kimura et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Okuzumi et al. 1994 in 2000.
