Nomenclatural History

Trüper and De' Clari corrected this name from Photobacterium damsela piscicida (sic) to Photobacterium damselae piscicida . The subspecies Photobacterium damselae piscicida was originally described by Janssen and Surgalla 1968. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1995 the name was revived and validly published by Gauthier et al..
