The subspecies Aeromonas punctata punctata was originally described by Snieszko 1957. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1964, Schubert reduced (Zimmermann 1890) Snieszko 1957 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of subspecies.
