The species Aeromonas trota was originally described by Carnahan et al. 1991. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 40 in 1992. Huys et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Aeromonas enteropelogenes Schubert et al. 1991
in 2002.
