Nomenclatural History
The genus Enterobacter was originally proposed by Hormaeche and Edwards 1960. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was placed onto the nomina taxorum conservanda by Judicial Opinion 28 in 1963. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 15 in 1958. Sakazaki published an emended description of this genus in 1974. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Brady et al. in 2013.
