The species Enterobacter taylorae was originally described by Farmer et al. 1985. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 17 in 1985. Schønheyder et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (Urosevic 1966) Dickey and Zumoff 1988 in 1994.
