Nomenclatural History
The species Erwinia rhapontici was originally described by Burkholder 1948. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Hauben et al. published an emended description of this species in 1998. Hauben et al. established as an earlier homotypic synonym of (Millard 1924) Patel and Kulkarni 1951 (Approved Lists 1980) pro synon. Erwinia rhapontici (Millard 1924) Burkholder 1948 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Hauben et al. 1998 in 1998.
