The species Halorubrum coriense was originally described and validly published by Oren and Ventosa 1996. Oren and Ventosa formed this name in 1996 by placing the species corrig. Kamekura and Dyall-Smith 1996 into the genus McGenity and Grant 1996 emend. Oren et al. 2009.
