Nomenclatural History
The genus Klebsiella was originally proposed by Trevisan 1885. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was placed onto the nomina taxorum conservanda by Judicial Opinion 13 in 1954. Ørskov published an emended description of this genus in 1974. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Carter et al. in 1999, Drancourt et al. in 2001, Gujarati et al. in 2020 and Ma et al. in 2021. Carter et al. transferred the members of Aragão and Vianna 1913 emend. Dienst 1974 (Approved Lists 1980) into this genus in 1999. Ma et al. transferred the members of Drancourt et al. 2001 into this genus in 2021.
