Nomenclatural History
The species Halorubrum trapanicum was originally described by McGenity and Grant 1995. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 56 in 1996. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 74 in 2003. McGenity and Grant formed this name in 1995 by placing the species (Petter 1931) Elazari-Volcani 1957 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus McGenity and Grant 1996 emend. Oren et al. 2009.
