The subspecies Salmonella enterica salamae was originally described and validly published by Le Minor and Popoff 1987. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 80 in 2005. Tindall et al. formed this name in 2005 by placing the subspecies corrig. Le Minor et al. 1985 into the species (ex Kauffmann and Edwards 1952) Le Minor and Popoff 1987.
