Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Salmonella choleraesuis bongori was originally described by Le Minor et al. 1982. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 18 in 1985. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 80 in 2005. Howey et al. corrected this name from (sic) to . In 1987, Le Minor and Popoff established as the basonym of (Le Minor et al. 1985) Le Minor and Popoff 1987 . Reeves et al. elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name (Le Minor et al. 1985) Reeves et al. 1989 in 1989.
