The subspecies Salmonella choleraesuis diarizonae was originally described by Le Minor et al. 1982. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 18 in 1985. Farmer corrected this name from (sic) to . In 2005, Tindall et al. established as the basonym of (Le Minor et al. 1985) Le Minor and Popoff 1987 .
