The species Haloterrigena turkmenica was originally described and validly published by Ventosa et al. 1999. Ventosa et al. formed this name in 1999 by placing the species Zvyagintseva and Tarasov 1989 into the genus Ventosa et al. 1999 emend. de la Haba et al. 2021.
