Nomenclatural History

The species Pasteurella avium was originally described and validly published by Mutters et al. 1985. Mutters et al. formed this name in 1985 by placing the species
Haemophilus avium Hinz and Kunjara 1977 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Pasteurella Trevisan 1887 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Mutters et al. 1985. In 2005, Blackall et al. established Pasteurella avium as the basonym of
Avibacterium avium (Hinz and Kunjara 1977) Blackall et al. 2005
