The species Pasteurella granulomatis was originally described by Ribeiro et al. 1989. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 32 in 1990. In 1999, Angen et al. established Pasteurella granulomatis as the basonym of
Mannheimia granulomatis (Ribeiro et al. 1990) Angen et al. 1999
.
