The species Haemophilus equigenitalis was originally described by Taylor et al. 1978. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 10 in 1983. In 1983, Sugimoto et al. established as the basonym of (Taylor et al. 1983) Sugimoto et al. 1984 .
