Nomenclatural History
|
The genus Desulfovibrio was originally proposed by Kluyver and van Niel 1936. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Postgate published an emended description of this genus in 1974. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Loubinoux et al. in 2002 and Waite et al. in 2020. Loubinoux et al. transferred the members of
Desulfomonas Moore et al. 1976 (Approved Lists 1980)
into this genus in 2002.
