Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Desulfovibrio desulfuricans desulfuricans was originally described by Kluyver and van Niel 1936. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Shivani et al. elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name (Beijerinck 1895) Kluyver and van Niel 1936 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Shivani et al. 2017 in 2017.
