Nomenclatural History

The genus Desulfomonas was originally proposed by Moore et al. 1976. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Loubinoux et al. transferred the members of this genus into
Desulfovibrio Kluyver and van Niel 1936 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Waite et al. 2020
in 2002.
