The species Desulfobacterium anilini was originally described by Schnell et al. 1989. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 34 in 1990. In 2014, Suzuki et al. established as the basonym of (Schnell et al. 1990) Suzuki et al. 2014 .
