Nomenclatural History

The genus Desulfofaba was originally proposed and validly published by Knoblauch et al. 1999. Abildgaard et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2004. Abildgaard et al. transferred the members of
Desulfomusa Finster et al. 2001
into this genus in 2004.
