Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 31 in 1989. The species Polyangium cellulosum was originally described by Imshenetski and Solntseva 1945. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1989 the name was revived by Brockman. In 2005, Reichenbach established as the basonym of (Brockman 1989) Reichenbach 2007 .
